Soccer Sadness

If there is one thing we pride ourselves on here at The Healthy Scratch, its giving both sides of the story. We want you to know that what you’re reading is free of bias and completely accurate; well unless we’re talking about our favorite teams or players then it will be totally slanted coverage.

That said of late we’ve been showcasing the glory that is the World Cup and soccer. But we don’t want you to think that the World Cup is all sex toys and parties. There is the other side of soccer, the dark and sad side that rears its ugly head at nearly every big tournament. A joyful and exciting soccer game will be going on when all of the sudden a player decides to score on his own net. That’s right, the OWN GOAL!!!

To be honest, I’m a pretty big fan of the own goal. I get a special joy out of seeing some guy slam the ball past his own goalie and ducking his head in shame while the other team goes crazy cheering the goal. So today we celebrate one of the most exciting moment in all of sport with this video of some of the best own goals ever recorded.
