A thrilling 4-2 win in game 7 by the Carolina Hurricanes over the Buffalo Sabres thursday night.

Justin Williams netted a goal and added 2 assists to help Carolina return to the Finals, where they last competed for the Stanley Cup in 2002.

A tough break late in the third for the Sabres, when Brian Campbell shot the puck over the glass that resulted in the winning powerplay goal by captain Rod Brind’Amour.

You gotta give the Sabres credit for playing gritty and without some key defenseman, however the Canes were just too strong for them.

It’s a battle of WHA cousins, as the Ruffnecks of Edmonton go up against the Rednecks of Carolina. Should be a dandy of a series as Doug Weight returns to Edmonton to play his former club starting Monday.
