Licking their chops
Only time will tell which of these free agent defenseman will be the next to cash in and who will be the team anteing up for their services.
Wade Redden, Zdeno Chara & Ed Jovanovski top the list of free agent defenseman that are do for a big pay raise after the Leafs offered Bryan McCabe a 5 year contract Wednesday. The deal will pay McCabe $28,750,000.00 over the length of the contract, and includes a no-trade clause as well.
Speculation is that the Ottawa Senators will only be able to keep one of Chara/Redden and haven’t made a decision as to whom they’ll be keeping.
With the July 1st signing spree nearing, these three should have new deals by then.
